Where to Watch: JustWatch
I stumbled across Five Feet Apart while browsing for something to watch. I was in the mood for a beautiful romance, something emotional, and maybe even something that would make me cry. What I found was a movie that completely captured my heart.
I absolutely loved it. Every bit of it.
A Love Story Without Touch
Five Feet Apart follows Stella (Haley Lu Richardson) and Will (Cole Sprouse), two teenagers living with cystic fibrosis who meet in a hospital. Their medical conditions mean they must maintain a safe physical distance from each other, even as they begin falling in love.
Imagine meeting someone who makes your heart flutter, someone you desperately want to hold close, and knowing that something as simple as touching their hand could put your health at risk.
That's what makes this story so beautiful and heartbreaking.
Stella and Will's chemistry was incredible. I genuinely believed I was watching two young people fall in love. Their relationship developed through conversations, humor, stolen glances, and those wonderful little moments that sometimes mean more than the grandest romantic gestures.
And perhaps that's what I loved most. When physical affection isn't an option, every word, every look, and every shared moment becomes that much more meaningful.
More Than Just a Romance
As much as I adored Stella and Will, the supporting characters brought so much warmth to the story.
I absolutely adored Poe, Stella's best friend. Their friendship added humor, personality, and a wonderful sense of familiarity to the movie. The nurses and hospital staff were equally important, creating a feeling of family within a place that could otherwise have felt cold and isolating.
The movie balanced its lighter moments with the seriousness of the characters' circumstances beautifully. There was romance, laughter, sadness, friendship, and sacrifice, but none of those elements overshadowed the others for me.
I loved that the story wasn't simply about two people falling in love. It was also about the relationships that sustain us, the people who stand beside us, and the uncertainty of not knowing what tomorrow might bring.
And Then There's the Music...
Oh, Andy Grammer.
His song Don't Give Up on Me is everything about this movie.
I don't know how else to explain it. The emotion, the tenderness, the message of standing by someone you love — it all comes together so beautifully.
It makes me melt.
There are songs that accompany a movie, and then there are songs that become inseparable from the way a movie makes you feel. For me, this is absolutely the latter.
I can't imagine thinking about Five Feet Apart without hearing that song in my head.

The Little Things Are Really the Big Things
One of the most meaningful things I took away from this movie was the reminder of how precious time really is.
We get so caught up in our everyday lives that it's easy to forget how extraordinary the simplest things can be. Holding someone's hand. Hugging someone you love. Sitting beside them. Telling them how much they mean to you.
We shouldn't put those things off.
The movie also made me reflect on the people I've loved, the sacrifices that sometimes come with loving someone, and the importance of living fully even when life doesn't unfold the way we imagined.
But above everything else, it reminded me of something I believe is at the heart of this story:
True love isn't measured by physical closeness, but by the connection between two people.
And I think that's a beautiful message.
My Final Thoughts
I honestly can't think of anything significant I would change about Five Feet Apart. I loved the performances, the chemistry, the friendships, the emotional storytelling, and the way it balanced moments of humor with some genuinely heartbreaking realities.
Would I watch it again? Absolutely!
This one has earned a place on my personal favorites list. It's the kind of movie I could revisit again and again, although I'd probably want to be in the right emotional mood.
I'd enthusiastically recommend it to anyone who enjoys heartfelt romance, meaningful relationships, and stories about resilience and human connection. Just be prepared for some big feelings, and maybe keep a box of tissues nearby.

A beautiful reminder that sometimes the greatest love stories aren't about how close we can physically be to someone, but how deeply we can connect with them.
