Zesty Bacon Cheddar Dip Recipe

DISCLOSURE: I received something for free in the hope that I would mention it on my blog. Did I like it? Would you like it? Read more below to find out.

Remember the bacon craze? It might even still be going on for all I know. Anyway, in 2014 we had a party. We got some goodies from TABASCO® through HouseParty.com and tried out three recipes using TABASCO®. Since the party, we've made this Zesty Bacon Cheddar Dip over and over again.

We've brought it as a Thanksgiving appetizer, a Christmas appetizer, a party with our neighbors at their farm, birthday parties, Spring and Summer parties and even just because. This recipe is so easy to make and it makes a ton on a budget.

Aside from the TABASCO®, the key to this recipe (in my opinion) is the bacon. We found the best success with Smithfield Thick Cut Bacon. I've always been a budget shopper, but I splurged on this bacon just for this recipe and it's been our go-to bacon ever since.

Watch for coupons and/or stock up when it's on sale. Smithfield Thick Cut Bacon is totally worth the money. For the record, we bought both Smithfield and Hormel Black Label Thick Cut Bacon the first time we made our party sized portion of this recipe. Smithfield won.

Zesty Bacon Cheddar Dip Recipe

Recipe by melsaywhat

This zesty dip recipe is a hit for all occasions and all seasons. Whether it's a holiday party, tailgating or an every day snack, the combination of ranch, sour cream, cheese and bacon is sure to be a hit when paired with your favorite TABASCO® flavor.

Prep time: 5 min. + 60 to chill
Cook time: 15 min
Total time: 80 min.
Serves: 8

Ingredients
  • 1 oz. Ranch Dip Mix
  • 16 oz. Sour Cream
  • 2 Tbsp. TABASCO® brand Original Red Sauce
  • 1.5 cups Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese
  • 1/2 lb. Smithfield Thick Cut Bacon
Cooking Directions
  1. Cook bacon until crisp, allowing to soak on paper towels to absorb some grease.
  2. Allow to cool.
  3. Chop with a knife or in a food processor.
  4. In a medium bowl combine ranch dip mix, sour cream and TABASCO®.
  5. Stir in cheese and bacon.
  6. Chill for at least one hour before serving.
  7. Serve with NABISCO® RITZ crackers, potato chips, corn chips, pretzels or even vegetables.
If you want to jazz up the recipe, you can add caramelized onions or fresh green onions (diced or chopped) or use any of the various TABASCO® flavors.

I bet you didn't know TABASCO® had more than one flavor. They do! There's the TABASCO® Green Jalapeno Sauce, Chipotle Sauce (which we also tried in baked beans with bacon), Buffalo Style Hot Sauce, Habanero Sauce for the heat-seekers, Garlic Pepper Sauce and Sweet & Spicy Sauce.

TABASCO® also makes a Bloody Mary Mix, marinades, condiments, chili starters and salsa. You can also find the TABASCO® flavor in Jelly Belly® jelly beans, Cheeze-Its®, Slim Jims, Sachs Peanuts and SPAM®.

I already loved TABASCO®. Now that I know how to use it and that there are so many more options that just the traditional red sauce, I'm using it a lot more, so yes, I love TABASCO®. If you're not a fan of the heat, Chipotle is the way to go.

What's your favorite food or recipe using TABASCO®?
